Description 

Designed for today and tomorrow’s business and IT leaders, the Level 3 Extended Certificate in Information Technology provides a specialist vocational qualification and teaches learners the key concepts and practical skills for direct progression to employment or to further courses of study. When taken alongside other Level 3 qualifications, including Level 3 Extended Certificates or A Levels in complementary or contrasting subjects, such as mathematics, physics, science, arts or technology, the qualification gives learners the opportunity to progress to a degree in an information technology discipline or a degree where information technology related skills and knowledge may be advantageous. 

Structure 

The course is divided into 4 units of work: 

  1. Information Technology Systems

Learners study the role of computer systems and the implications of their use in personal and professional situations. 

  1. Creating Systems to Manage Information

Learners study the design, creation, testing and evaluation of a relational database system to manage information. 

  1. UsingSocial Mediain Business 

Learners explore how businesses use social media to promote their products and services. Learners also implement social media activities in a business to meet requirements. 

  1. Website Development

Learners investigate website development principles. They will design and develop a website using scripting languages. 

Course Requirements 

Pass at 4 or above in GCSE Computer Science or C GCSE ICT 

Personal Requirements 

Someone who likes information technology and the solving of problems using it.
