Friesland library is located in the SMT Building close to the main school reception and houses the school’s collection of fiction and non-fiction books, as well as other learning resources.  The library supports the school’s Literacy Programme with library lessons for all years 7, 8 & 9 once every two weeks.

The fiction section of the library is organised alphabetically to support students in finding the reads they desire from their favourite authors. The non-fiction section is arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System.

Aside from the library lessons taking place in the library throughout the week, the library is open to all students at break times for quiet reading, home learning or silent study. Students may visit the library before school, after school and during their lunch times to browse the shelves, borrow and return books or renew their current book.  The librarians are always on hand for any library queries, information or to help students.

As part of their library lessons students are encouraged to quiz on books on the Accelerated Reader scheme once they have finished reading them, and students can access Accelerated Reader using the following link remotely or while they are in school.

The library also contains a set of Kindles for use during library lessons to access Accelerated Reader or the library catalogue, and along with the computers housed in the library, this means that all students have online access available to them during their library lessons.
