It was really good to witness over 30 ‘footballers’ and an enthusiastic Sixth Form crowd, raising funds for Comic Relief in a competitive but very friendly spirit. The Galacticos from the Derby County Community Trust were certainly put through their paces by a hastily put together squad of pyjama wearing rugby players, budding entrepeneurs and gym enthusiasts.
The closely fought contest, where one team exhibited skill and the other massive effort, ended 1-1 with a dramatic penalty shoot out, culminating with Libby stylishly sending our England International Goalkeeper, Lucy, the wrong way, to win the game for the all stars. However there are notable mentions for the goal scorers, Eloise and ‘Billy Whizz’ Jake. Very well done to all that participated; especially those students that rarely kick a ball or indeed play any sport. A further well done to Charlie for managing the losing team in such an accomplished manner!
Thanks, as always, to Michael for refereeing in such a fair and entertaining manner.
