Friesland is a values driven school, and we live up to our ethos of Ambition, Teamwork, Honesty and Respect in everything that we do. Our school is a vibrant and driven educational environment, where we prioritise the academic, personal and cultural education of all our students. The decision around which secondary school to choose is one of the biggest a family can make, and we believe that Friesland is the right choice for a variety of reasons:
High quality teaching:
Friesland has a strong track record of high-quality teaching; with experienced, committed staff delivering challenging and innovative lessons. Our teachers are expert subject specialists and work continuously with colleagues at Friesland and across The Two Counties Trust to plan and deliver inspirational lessons.
Staff at Friesland are highly trained and seek continual improvement through our bespoke Professional Development programme. We are genuinely reflective practitioners, with diagnostic use of assessment and collaborative reflective practice feeding into lessons planned for the needs of all students.
Friesland School develops confident learners who are active participants in their education, learning not only key knowledge and content but also the skills to become mature, creative young people who go on to lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives.
All students at Friesland develop the skills required to learn in every lesson, working on long term memory, independent learning and robust debate. This approach allows students not only to be successful academically, but also to develop the skills required for employment later in life. Literacy underpins all learning at Friesland, and we develop self-assured orators, confident readers and skilful writers.
Friesland life beyond the classroom:
The Friesland experience is about so much more than what goes on in the classroom, all of our students are part of the Friesland Family for life, and will make memories with us that they will cherish long into adulthood.
All students are given the opportunity to experience and participate in the arts, as part of our commitment to their cultural development. The school run two fantastic school productions per year, as well as regular Music concerts and Dance shows, with participation numbers high across the cohort.
Friesland runs a large number of sports teams and clubs, with high participation levels and exceptional teams competing with other local schools. Students of all abilities take part in sports and physical activity at Friesland, as we firmly believe that physical activity plays a large part in school life and the wellbeing of our students.
Friesland is also a caring, student centric school. We pride ourselves on the support and guidance, including careers guidance, that all of our students receive. School is a part of every young person’s life, where futures are shaped and ambitions fulfilled. Friesland School is not only about what our students achieve when with us, but the successes they go onto once they leave.
